GRAYHAVEN COMICS APPRENTICE- 2nd Challenge and Team Assignments

The judges have used what we know to place you into two teams for the next challenge, as the game will regularly alternate between individual and team tasks. Apologies for the slightly uneven teams – we weren’t expecting to lose five players in the first week. We’ve tried to make them as balanced as possible.

The first team will consist of FORREST HELVIE, NATHAN KENKEL, SAM READ, ANDREW SHAW, MARY MARGARET SHERIDAN, and JEREMY THOMAS.

And the second team will consist of RYAN CADY, STEVE DISHON, COURTLAND FUNKE,  WILLIAM LEVERT, JARED MOORE, RON MONTGOMERY and GIULIE SPEZIANI.

Good luck to both teams. When you get to the groups, you can start coming up with your team names.

Now that the teams have been set up, it’s time for your first team challenge. For team challenges, the tasks will be bigger and more complex, and we want to see what you’re capable of as a unit. So delegating will be an important part of the job of whoever becomes the project manager of each team. The losing team will come to the boardroom, and someone will be fired.

This is your first team challenge, THE ULTIMATE CROSSOVER OF ULTIMATE DESTINY.

The crossover has fascinated fans since the beginning of media. Who hasn’t wanted to see their favorite characters from different franchises or worlds meet and team up? Marvel Studios rewrote the limits of the box office with the first Superhero team-up in Avengers, and WB is following suit with a Batman/Superman movie. Even IDW got into the act with the Infestation series, a group of miniseries featuring characters from diverse franchises battling a common threat.

But this week, we’re thinking bigger. We’re opening the whole world of fiction to you guys, to create the ultimate crossover.

You are going to pick four different franchises, and create a common story and threat that can unite them all. You can pick any characters or universes from comics, TV, movies, or books. The only rule is that no two properties can be from the same universe. So you can use one Marvel property and one DC property, if you want, but that’s it. This doesn’t mean same company – if there’s stand-alone properties from the same parent company that you want to combine, that’s fine, but e-mail us if you have any questions about eligibility. This story should be stand-alone – there could be sequels in the future, but this should be treated as a once-in-a-lifetime event, and should have a beginning, middle, and end.

This challenge will be judged solely on creativity. As this allows you to go nuts with the properties without any consideration of the logistics of the crossover happening, all we want is the best story your team can provide.

Here’s what we need from you:

  • The four franchises you have chosen to cross over, and why you chose them. What about these four properties made you want to see them cross over?
  • A list of the characters from each of the properties who are going to play the biggest roles, including the main threat that will drive the story.
  • The outline of your crossover. We don’t need every single detail, but all the major plot points should be detailed here.

Good luck, have fun, and let us know who your project managers for this task are. The project manager of the winning team will win immunity for the next round – but the project manager of the losing team is automatically in the boardroom and will have to pick two people to join them.

This challenge is due Saturday, August 4th at Noon 12 PM EST
