UPDATE: WE ARE FULL!
At GrayHaven, we have been fortunate to come across and work with HUNDREDS of talented comic book creators. A few times annually we hold open submissions for upcoming volumes which are typically the most popular times of our publishing year. We’re a few months away from the next open submission period but we still wanted to have some fun with new comic book talent.
So we’re debuting the first ever GrayHaven Comics Apprentice game. As you might imagine, we’ve taken some inspiration from the popular television show. Only in this game your goal is to out create other creators and become the GHC Apprentice with the prize being your very own one shot, published by us next year.
We’re looking to have between 8 and 16 contestants depending on interest. The first 16 people to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org are in. Update: That was quick. We’ve reached our 16 contestants.
Contestants will be paired into teams and the contest will be a mixture of group and individual creative challenges on a weekly basis that are all comic book related. At the end of every challenge, one person or team will be safe and the others will make their cases in the ‘boardroom’ with one person leaving the game forever.
The contest will last from 6 to 10 weeks depending on the number of players and while a majority of the correspondence will occur with the judges through group email we will post the week’s challenges, contestant’s projects as well as ‘transcripts’ on the site so people can keep track.
Contest is open to anyone except GrayHaven editorial or those that already have a one shot or mini series in development with us. The challenge will be writing heavy so don’t worry if you don’t have artistic skills.
If you are looking to have some fun, test your creative limits (and patience) and try for a chance to earn your own one shot published by us email us ASAP. And good luck.
