It’s everyone’s favorite time of year. This is the time when we reveal the themes to future issues of The Gathering and open submissions to new writers and artists to participate in those volumes. Since we all have so much fun during this period we’ve decided to do it multiple times throughout the year. This current round will cover only the books we’re publishing in the first quarter of 2013 but in case you’re worried that it limits your options for books to submit to fear not because we’ve got some news on that front.
Thanks to the success of last year’s Kickstart campaign and sell outs on our first two Horror themed issues of The Gathering we are launching a new Horror ongoing called Tales from the Abyss. The new anthology will debut at the end of 2012 and then run quarterly in 2013. The format for Tales will be seven 6 page stories in each issue and in some cases stories will run throughout numerous issues.
And in keeping with our desire to put out content for younger readers we’re also launching another quarterly called Hey Kids. Each issue of Hey Kids will focus on a different theme, similar to The Gathering but with content aimed at readers 10 and under.
Submissions open for this round are as follows:
The Gathering: True Ghost Stories– Not just ghost stories, but real life ghost stories.
The Gathering: Crime– True Crime, Crime Noir, plain ol Crime. If it’s crime, it counts.
The Gathering: Pulp Heroes– New heroes with a classic pulp feel. Original creations or riffs on the classics.
Tales from the Abyss issues 1 and 2
Hey Kids, Fairy Tale Comics– Classic Fairy Tales reimagined or all new Fairy Tales for an all new audience
Hey Kids, Super Hero Comics– Nuff said
The Erotica one-shot
Please see the Submissions Page on this site for more details on how to submit a story
In February we’ll also be launching our next season of Webcomics, the most popular feature of our website. Fragments, our tryout winner will return along with a fan favorite from ‘season’ one: Kid Robo. In addition to these strips, Life and Death will return and we’ll have new ongoing strips from Donal DeLay, Amanda Rachels and Kevin LaPorte (Clown Town), Ray Goldfield, Leonardo Gonzalez, Erica Heflin, Kent Holle, Glenn Matchett, Jake McGill, Jazel Riley and Charlie Robinson. In March Skits will return along with the strips from our Kickstarter winners. It’s going to be a fantastic new debut of webcomics so stay tuned.
To coincide with all of the new titles we’ve launched another Kickstarter campaign with plenty of great rewards for those who choose to pledge. Please take the time to check out the link below and help us keep our publishing goals on track
