Farewell Aaron, Welcome Johnny

All good things must come to an end and I have to announce that the uber talented Aaron Bir will be stepping down from GrayHaven Comics and The Gathering as Art Director at the end of this month.

Aaron has not only contributed covers to all four issues of The Gathering but he did interior art and lettering on many of the stories, helped recruit new artists to the book and was just an all around great guy working his butt off to make sure the comic looked its very best.

Aaron has teamed with some very talented artists (and fellow Gatherers) Donal DeLay and Blake Sims to create Lay of the Line and artist website where the three creators have fun with different themes every week. Visit them here: http://layoftheline.wordpress.com/

Aaron’s work will still be in The Gathering for the near future, at least. He’s doing cover and interior art for issue 5 (Romance) and I’m sure we’ll see him back in the book before too long. You only have as far to go as Lay of the Line to see what he’s up to and his own site, Sequential Stutter http://sequentialstutter.com/ for the latest news.

Good luck, Aaron!

But we can’t go without an Art Director so filling Aaron’s shoes will be John Coker. John is another extremely talented writer/artist whose work has appeared in all three issues of The Gathering and has been wowing readers for the past 3 months with the fan favorite webcomic, DEcomPRESSIONism updated each Tuesday on this very site.

Johnny has worked on some of the more popular characters to appear in The Gathering and has been a huge help to writers and artists over the past year seeking advice from anything to a particular plot point to how to best lay out an issue for their artist.

We’re all looking forward to a smooth transition and making Johnny work up an even bigger sweat every issue for your entertainment.

Welcome, Johnny!

Thanks to Andrew and the rest of the Gatherers. It’s been a fantastic experience and I still plan on helping out with the book in any way I can.

Congratulations, Johnny! I’m sure you will kick all kinds of butt!

John (can’t call him Johnny now that he’s in a position of power) will have some big shoes to fill. I think he’s going to do an incredible job though. I’m genuinley jealous of the talent he has. Not only is he a great artist, he’s a fantastic writer as well.

Aaron, I’m sad to see you go. Working with you on Volume 3 was a fantastic experience, and I think you’ve helped me become a better writer. You are supremely talented and are going to make a big splash soon. You can draw in so many different styles, and make them all look amazing. It was an honor to work with you.

Congratulations, Johnny! I look forward to having our story come out in volume 5 and working again with you in the future!

Thanks everyone. If I had a heart anymore, I’d cry.

I have a very big banana hammock to fill.

    Should be a fun ride.
